| As I said, life is a series of choices. Going through Dept In-Service this week, I realized this. The choices we make determine what we do, where we do them, and who we do them with. Take this example:
I'm at work in the LT.'s office, with the LT and a SGT. There are two inmates in the office as well. The inmates decide to take us hostage, catching the 3 of us off guard, in a small confined space. The SGT gets cut fairly bad with a shank, while myself and the LT are beaten up in the confusion...the 3 of us are now hostages. A few hours later, negotiations have begun, when the SGT comes to, motioning to me she can get away, as myself and the LT have been handcuffed, but not to each other. At that point, the SGT must make a decision, whether to risk getting away and possibly free, leaving the 2 of us on our own. What if she doesn't get out, and is stopped by the inmates?
These are the decision we live with and make every day, though yours are prob not as extreme as this one. Each choice we make has a consequence, both for doing it, and not for doing something else. Sometimes the only thing we have is the moment, and after all is said and done, will we be ablt to live with our decision, knowing whether or not we may have hurt those we care about... |
